Maui is perhaps the most spectacular place on earth. From it’s miles of white sand beaches, to the gentle slopes of Haleakala, to the tropical rain forests of Hana, beauty and peace prevail. The natural beauty of our island home is unparalleled, and there are many different ways for you and your family to relax and enjoy their vacation.
Restaurants
Kahana offers many great restaurants, all within walking distance. The Kahana Gateway Center has a selection of dining options from fine dinning to fast food. Choose from the famous Roy’s, Maui Brewing Company, RB Black Angus and McDonald’s. Across the street from the Kahana Reef is China Boat, a popular choice among locals in the area. There are also many great restaurants a short drive away. Kapalua has a selection of fine dining options. Kaanapali and Lahaina both have a selection of fine and casual dining options. There is a restaurant near by that is sure to satisfy the whole family.
Golf
Golfing on Maui could be one of the highlights of your vacation. The weather is perfect, the views spectacular, and West Maui is home to some of the finest championship courses in the world. The Kahana Reef is minutes away from some of the island’s best courses. Test your skills at one of Ka’anapali’s courses. A 5 minute drive North of Kahana takes you to Kapalua, home to two world class golf courses, the Plantation Course and the Bay Course.
Ocean Activities
West Maui is the perfect place for your family’s sea faring adventures. The warm, tropical climate and gentle waters are just right for sailing, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, whale watching, or just relaxing on deck. Just 15 minutes south of the Kahana Reef, is Lahaina harbor, one of Maui’s pleasure fleet’s home bases. Book a day trip on board one of Maui’s many excellent tour boats to enjoy a refreshing, open ocean perspective. From Lahaina Harbor, book a trip on the ferry to the islands of Lanai or Molokai or book deep sea fishing, snorkel tours, sunset cruises or a whale watch cruise (in season).
Beaches
Maui’s beaches are second to none. Our island is home to more miles of beach than the other Hawaiian isles, and we probably have a beach to fit your style. Popular Ka’anapali Beach, an excellent family beach, is conveniently located near the Kahana Reef condos. A short 5 minute drive away is Kapalua Beach, voted “America’s Best Beach” in 1991, great for snorkeling and swimming all year round because of it’s protected bay. Several other beautiful beaches are close by. In the fall and winter, Humpback whales frolic just off shore. Year round sun and gentle tradewinds provide the perfect beach-going weather.
Sight Seeing
Get out for a little island sight-seeing adventure during your stay on Maui. There are many diverse climates and eco-systems nearby, offering your family wonderful opportunities for exploring. Some of Maui’s most spectacular scenery is accessible by car, so driving tours are a fantastic family outing.
